Thanks to all who attended, made donations to the cause and/or provided support for the recent Benefit Concerts held by Looney's Fortune. These concerts are for an Irish NGO (Non-Governmental Organization) to help raise money for their work with the flood victims in Pakistan.
There are a couple reasons we are doing this. Patti knows the man who is regional manager for Trócaire there and he has written amazing descriptions of the plight of the poor there. We'd like to help him in his work. Another is the organization, Trócaire (pronounced trawk-er-uh which means compassion) sponsored an event in Ireland September called "Trad for Trócaire" in which traditional musicians got together and performed music sessions to raise money. We liked that idea and felt it was something that we could do. You can read more about Trócaire's work at www.trócaire.org.
